Who am I?
I was born in Sierra Leone, West Africa. I am Nigerian from the Yoruba culture. I had an older sister and two older brothers. My mother was an educator and my father an industrialist. It was a close-knit family with strong Christian beliefs: no dogma but we were shown the teachings of the bible: knowing right from wrong, treating our fellow man as we would want to be treated, helping those less fortunate.
Growing up, I was never really sure how I felt about the institution of religion itself. Losing my mother at the age of 18 put me in a state of shock for a long time and caused me to question the existence of God. Then my beloved father died a few years later, then my brothers, sister, uncles, and aunts. Illness took them all prematurely.
In the years that followed, I moved to the UK. The impact of losing my family drew me to work around trauma, loss, bereavement, and grief, and I went on to train as a therapist, counsellor, and mental health worker.
Then my health deteriorated and I had to give up my precious career, so very dear to me. It was devastating. One day, as I lay recuperating following another operation, I had a ‘road to Damascus’ moment! I felt God, His Spirit, my ancestors, those who had gone before me.
I had no idea what was in store, only that I heard the call and I answered! I knew that everything I had done to date was leading me somewhere. I was able to clear my head, hear my inner voice, and find peace at the OneSpirit Seminary, where I became an Ordained Minister.
My journey, guided by the bigger and higher power, took me a step further to where I would be fully aligned with my Ori. I trained and stepped into the role of Ancestral Lineage Healing Practitioner.
My ministry is spiritual, my coaching conversational. Both involve insight as fundamental to finding a better way. Insight is obtained through careful listening, caring enquiry, and compassionate reflection. And coaching culminates in practical counsel.
I have realised that my journey has equipped me to help others on theirs. The spiritual teacher Ram Dass said, ‘We are all walking each other home’. This is my ministry, walking alongside people at different times in their lives and sharing precious moments on their journey…a seasoned traveller trying to help others find a way….as I continue on my own journey to evolve and face the unanswered questions and mysteries of the universe.
